These clouds ain’t shit.

All gray and drizzly.

Do what y’all do, but don’t mess with my weekend, fam.

I tried out the video recording feature on the new cam last night, and it’s fricking awesome.

Like, just as good as my video camera I bought a few months back.

I still haven’t gotten the editing suite I copped 2 weeks ago to run correctly, though.

I think my desktop PC is not powerful enough, cause I keep getting the BSOD when I try to edit vids.

I might cop a decent video card to remedy that… or hustle a little more and just cop a second machine like I’d planned on just to do my multimedia work.

Something inexpensive, but with just the right aftermarket hardware to make video editing a snap.

Anyhoo… I’m about to hit the road in 30 minutes.

The fun begins!!! WHOO HOO!

Mass Exodus.

This kinda struck a nerve, yo.

Not cause I’m in love with Nikki Jean. (Which I’m is. : )~)

But mainly cause it’s still happening: People having to leave Philly in order to find big success.

You would think that with all the talent in the city and all the history and the vibe and whutnot, that the creative scene would rival NYC’s to some degree… but it’s still not happening.

And it kinda makes me sad, yo.

We can do it. It’s just a matter of making the investments, and I don’t know of too many who are willing to put up that kind of loot or devote their blood, sweat and tears.

I’m kinda glad to see that the city has been able to attract Hollywood to shoot films here, though.

Maybe we can piggyback on top of that.

*calling Will Smith*

I just wanna see us make it.

And I will put some work in on it once I’m out of this current situation.

So… after a little planning and budgeting…

2 July 2008 · No Comments

…I figured that I could “blow” a little of the $timmy-$tim on something that I’d needed.

8.0mp + 4gb = A lot of high quality pics!

I’d been rocking with 4mp this whole time, but I’m now playing on a whole other level with this jawn.

Might even get my Peter Parker on and make some money with it.

All I know is… my blogs are gonna get a whole lot more picturey! :)

Another good thing at mid-2008.

1 July 2008 · 5 Comments

I haven’t hit any lows since late January/early February.
I won’t front and say them pills didn’t do anything, but they weren’t the sole pickmeup that got me back on the right track.

Positive thinking played more of a role there than anything.
Learning to accept who I am but at the same time addressing my weaknesses.
So when the time comes to fully take advantage of my strengths, I’ll be much better equipped to do so.

Hope is what those gray clouds obscured.
My future is what they distorted.

I’m good with the so-so looking not super smart dude that I am, and I know that with more effort applied, I can soar past these limits I’d put on myself for so long.

I’m good, yo. :)

Halfway through 2008.

1 July 2008 · 3 Comments

Well… Prolly not exactly halfway.

I don’t really feel like counting days and checking the calendar.

But really, this post is my half year evaluation, kinda like how they do at your job or at school.

===

I made a pact with myself to finish projects timely and with few errors, and I can say that I am pretty much sticking to that.

So far, my office/studio has been completed.

And the living room is at about 85% completion. As soon as I get up into this wall and rewire, it’ll be a wrap for the that room.

The porch is in the first stages of being worked on. It’ll be done before July is up.

The dining room will be easy to complete. Right now, it just holds the stuff from the porch and dining room. All that’s left to do is finish the floors and get new windows.

That will mean one whole completed floor.

And as far as non-house things… I can stand to pull better grades in school.

And I can stand to give more of a damn at The Job.

Those are no problem.

My biggest job… I kinda fell off on.

I managed to pack 10 lbs back on.

I’m fluctuating around 245 right now, and I hate it.

So, I’m going to invest more time in the mornings to exercising and getting back into shape.

It shouldn’t be hard, as my metabolism is still fairly decent.

I think the whole “free time” and social life thing will have to be on the back burner.

My Boo Hunt has been suspended for the most part, and I have no leads/prospects to show for any of it.

Time and money, man…

I’m sure I can get back into it at the end of Summer.

It seems like that’s the perfect time for booing up and getting that good cuddle time in.

I’m gonna be a great dude to some jawn… wherever she is. Whoever she is.

And… we’re currently looking like we’ll see a decent presidential election this year, if there isn’t some sort of crazy scandal cooked up to topple Barack Obama and push old-ass John McCain into the Oval Office.

Or some BS “event”… ramble ramble speculate conspiracy blah blah ramble

I just wanna see good things happen in the world, man.

We’re not promised tomorrow, so let’s be excellent to each other.

Now, if you’ll excuse me… I’m gonna go wash my face and brush/floss my teefis and go to my soft (yet lonely) bed.

I gotta be up tomorrow to get this long overdue shapeup and then put the stimmy stim in the $ta$h.

This is porch money!

===

PS: Something is about to give on the art front, too.

Just gotta play it smart. :)

Getting it done!

30 June 2008 · No Comments

I’ve pretty much compiled my list of things to purchase to begin this porch renovation:

<===

• 3 gang box to set up switches for porch lighting, a ceiling fan (I caved) and the outside light.

<===

• 2 single gangs boxes to replace old outlets. One in the living room, one out on the porch.

• 3 junction boxes to make clean splits.

• 100′ of wire.

• About 10 sheets of drywall.

• About eight 8′ 2×4s.

• A roll of insulation.

• Roughly 40 or so DriCore floor panels with levelers.

• Miscellaneous sealers and paints.

All in all, this should run about $600 and take 4 more weekends up.

But it’s gonna look dope. :)

Electric Boogaloo!

29 June 2008 · 1 Comment

Don’t expect no YouTube vids of big screen b-boying.

Nah. This is a short entry about my first major electrical job on the house.
I’m about ready to rip out a section of ceiling on my front porch so I can rewire the lighting to make sense and look great.
I gotta crack open a small section of wall, too.
My drywalling game is pretty good though, so you’d never know if you saw it. (No gloat-o)

But before I get ahead of myself, I have to remove the remnants of a shoddy drop ceiling and cap off the existing wiring leading to two recessed lamps.

This is actually acting as an extension of my living room rather than a standard porch.
It will be comfy and homey and all that when completed.

And, of course, I’ll have pics (and maybe vids) of the process for your enjoyment… if you enjoy this sort of stuff.

I hope you’ll enjoy your day as much as I will! :)

So… the pressure is on.

28 June 2008 · 1 Comment

All these last minute meetings and teleconferences and whutnot going down region–wide.

We have new blood in place and they want changes ASAP.

I can give it to them.
I’d just like them to change my salary by a few additional Gs.

Anyhoo… I once again repositioned my workstation.
It’s a little less of a bunker like I’ve had it since late 2005.
More of a service desky-type jawn.
I still have my PC screens way out of view to others.
LOL

But I spent 10 hours there today, and will see a few additional hours next week as well.

I have IT training to do up at KOP, as well as coordinating to do with regional.

Tomorrow, I start work on the front porch.
Disabling the electrical wiring and tearing out the old drop ceiling.
Then, start removing the old paneling and putting up fresh new paneling.
And I gotta build a wall between our porch and the neighbor’s porch. (I’ll go into that later.)

Add to all this, 3 courses that start Monday.

A man’s work is never finisheded.

IKEA (Swedish for “Ikea”)

27 June 2008 · No Comments

HEAVEN.

Yo, man. I think this is the greatest store in the world next to PetSmart.

The idea of a place where you can fully furnish a home with fully interchangeable parts like the Lego system is brilliant.
And I think the stuff is mad fun to put together, whereas some may not.

They just hate puzzles.

But as I rolled through there tonight with my sidekick Brokey McPoverty, I think we both found the best part of the Ikea Experience: Reading the Swedish names of the products.

I bought two shelves, but they are called “Lack” in Ikea.
I don’t even now if that’s Swedish for “floating shelf”, but it’s great fun to say.

I got those, and a tall frozen yogurt and 6 fat ass cinnamon buns, of which I ate two and now regret.
Not that they don’t taste good, but they’re so fattening and I’m having trouble sticking to my diet.

I FAILED.
